News about the EduMIC board

February 2005 The EduPIC board and programming software change the name to EduMic
The name is the only thing that changes since the board and the software is exactly the same. The intention of the name change is to respect the registered brand PIC of Microchip Inc. There were also some small boards called EduPIC, so from now on there will be no confusion.
January 2005 The EduMIC programming software (v. 2.0) is now able to program some devices of the 18 family
The new version of the programming software included with the EduPIC board no incorporates many devices of the 18 family, as the new 18F2550 with USB support and more classicals as the 18F452, among many other 18 family PIC microcontrollers.
December 2004 EduPIC   (called from 2005 EduMic) is one of the few boards with new USB 2.0 compliant PIC® MCUs
EduPIC supports the old PIC MCUs USB as well as the completely new 18F2455, 18F2550, 18F4455 and 18F4450. This new PIC microcontrollers suppose a real step forward to the fast development of complete systems with USB interface. That is so that EduPIC will incorporate the 18F2550 as the default mounted PIC microcontroller in the board.
January 2004 Release of a new version of the EduPIC board (v. 2004)
This new board is completely compatible with the last version. It improves some aspects including a reduction of price.
September 2002 IC-Prog perfectly works with the EduPIC board and allows programming of PIC MCUs of the 18 family
The board has its own software but now you can also use IC-Prog. IC-Prog is probably one of the most employed software for device programming since its supports many devices (not only PIC microcontrollers) and is completely free. The EduPIC software is still interesting since it works for the 16 family and it is easier to use.
January 2002 Release of the EduPIC board first version.
This board was initially thought to be employed in the microcontroller lab which a subject of the Computing Engineering studies at the University of Valencia in Spain. Once the board was proved at the lab, it was straight forward that we had to make it available to everybody.
